We recommend camping in Buttermilk Country for the fullest experience. Commune with nature and forgo the post-party drive home. We have many tents for borrow. The Buttermilks are part of the BLM, so dogs, guns, dirt bikes, are all welcome. A permit is required for campfires, though, can be obtained here: http://www.preventwildfireca.org/Campfire-Permit/
If you must have a shower, there are many budget-friendly hotels available in Bishop. Suggested:
The Creek Side Inn http://www.bishopcreeksideinn.com/
Best Western Bishop http://www.bestwesternbishop.com/
The Hostel http://www.thehostelcalifornia.com/
Cabins/condos/etc. are more readily available in Mammoth Lakes, 40 minutes north. AirBnB, VRBO, Craigslist all have good options.
